MUD RIVER — A Danville man was arrested and charged with two counts of malicious wounding and four counts of wanton endangerment after police say he shot a firearm in the direction of four juveniles, striking two of them.

Larry Allen Adkins, 50, of Danville, faces charges in relation to the incident that occurred on Oct. 31 near a mine warehouse parking lot on Hobet Mine property, adjacent to Mud River Road in Boone County.

According to a criminal complaint prepared by Cpl. JA Fankhouser II with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, one of the victims said he saw the barrel of a firearm pointed from the driver’s side window of a red 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty truck occupied by the accused.

According to the report, the victims said they heard multiple shots being fired in their direction from the defendant’s vehicle.

The criminal complaint states that there were two witnesses at the scene and they were interviewed by law enforcement.

There were no life-threatening injuries reported, but there was damage reported to both all-terrain vehicles.

At press time, Adkins was held at Southwestern Regional Jail on a $50,000 property/surety bond.
