MADISON — Video surveillance provided by a rental property owner helped lead to the arrest of a suspect in relation to a break-in in Madison on Feb. 22.

Chris Finley, who has a post office box in Danville, was charged with burglary.

According to the criminal complaint prepared by City of Madison Patrolman AM Cook, the officer responded to a possible burglary at 464 Hill St. and witnessed a man trying to flee the scene.

According to the report, the man, identified as Finley, complied with the officer’s command to stop. Through access to surveillance video provided by the landlord, the officer concluded that his suspect removed an air conditioner from the window to gain entry into the property.

According to the report, the defendant told Officer Cook that the resident had given him permission to stay there, but he could not provide the name of the resident, who was in the hospital at the time of the incident.

As of CVN print deadline, Finley was held in Southwestern Regional Jail on a $20,000 property/surety bond.
