Sylvia Marie Kingery

DANVILLE — A Danville woman was arrested and charged in relation to the fraudulent use of a debit card on Feb. 11.

According to a criminal complaint prepared by Trooper Robert L. Johnson with the WVSP, Sylvia Marie Kingery, 31, was charged with creation of unauthorized demand draft, obtaining money by false pretense and unauthorized use of a credit card or other credit device.

The report states that police say Kingery used a United Bank debit card to make a purchase of $115.91 at an Exxon gas station in Danville, and on dates beginning on Feb. 11, 2021, and ending on Feb. 16, 2021, the accused attempted transactions with the card by swiping it in an electronic access device to obtain goods.

The complaint states that the transactions that were attempted on Feb. 11 were declined because the card had been canceled, and investigators say that the owner(s) of the card did not give consent to the accused to use the card.

As of press time, Kingery was held at Southwestern Regional Jail, but bond-related information was not available at that time.
