ESTHER RUTH COWLEY, 71 of Moneta, Va., formerly of Boone County, W.Va., passed away August 30, 2020, at home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan Ray and Mary Turner White, and siblings, Joyce White Mitchem and Doris Workman. She was a retired clerk for the Boone County Clerk. She was a member of Eastern Star, Moose Lodge and Fraternal Order of Eagles. She is survived by her husband, John Cowley; sons, J.D. (Pajette) Sigmon of Uneeda, W.Va., and Eric (Stephanie) Sigmon of Chapmanville, W.Va.; brother, Jack Ray (Carol) White of Micanopy, Fla.; sisters, Carol Sue (Mac) McCrary of Ridgefield, Washington, Connie (Pat) Dent, Rebecca (Bob) Heater of Madison, W.Va.; grandchildren, Trey Sigmon, Megan Sigmon, Jada Sigmon, Erica Sigmon and Peyton Sigmon; great-grandchildren, Brinlee Sigmon and Ella; and a host of nieces and nephews. She loved being with family and grandkids, the beach, camping, reading and shopping. Graveside service 2 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2020, at Memory Gardens, Madison, W.Va., with Steve Burns officiating. Handley Funeral Home in Danville, W.Va., is assisting the family.
