MADISON - The Danville Hawks Youth Football League celebrated their homecoming on Sunday with a “Gold Rush” theme as they took the field in their all gold uniforms versus the Hurricane Redskins.

The day was packed with some exciting football on the gridiron. Unfortunately, for the Hawks they came up just short in a few of those battles. The Hawks D-Team coming off their first win of the season, lost a heartbreaker at 16-14 in overtime.

The Hawks C-Team suffered their first defeat on the season, as they too fell victim too a nail biting loss to the Redskins losing 40-38 in double overtime. The Hawks C-Team remains in 1st place in the MSE Blue Conference Standings as they are tied with the Buffalo Bison.

The Hawks B-Team engaged in a close game with Hurricane also. The Hawks battled to stay in the game, but ultimately fell to the Skins 26-20. The Hawks B-Team’s record sits at (3-3) going into week 8 of the season.

The final contest of the evening was billed as the battle of the unbeaten, as the Danville Hawks A-Team took on the defending MSE A-Team Elite Bowl Champions Hurricane Redskins. What was thought to be a close contest going in, quickly proved not to be as the Hawks jumped on the Redskins early and didn’t let up. The Hawks took a 36-6 lead to the half and finished the game defeating the team from Putnam County easily 44-12. The Hawks A-Team improved to (6-0) and they now sit in sole possession of first place in the MSE Blue Conference.

This Sunday the Hawks travel to Mineral Wells to take on the Patriots at South Parkersburg High School.
