VAN — Malak Bishop made 4 of 6 free throws in the overtime period to help lead visiting Mount View to a 56-53 win over Van on Dec. 30.

Kris Jackson added 3 of 4 from the charity stripe, and Justin Haggerty added a bucket in the decisive frame to help lead the Golden Knights to the win.

Mount View (3-2) took a slim early lead at 13-11 on the strength of hot shooting from Brandon Rolenterry — who poured in 8 points in the first quarter.

Van (1-5) played tough in the second frame with Braydon Roe and Byron Stewart pouring in five points each, and Van was down 28-23 at intermission.

The Bulldogs flexed in the third and outscored the Golden Knights 13-7 in a span that was their best defensive effort of the night holding Mount View to single digits in the quarter.

Mount View outscored Van 12-11 in the final frame of regulation, and teams were knotted at 47 going into the overtime period.

Byron Stewart led all scorers with 15 for Van, and Mount View was led by Brandon Rolenterry with 12.

The Golden Knights hit 7-of-10 free throws down the stretch to take the win, leaving the Bulldogs with a tough loss at home.

Mount View will play at Independence on Jan. 12 and Van will host River View on Jan. 14.
